This year at Sharptop new classes will be offered to help you achieve
your dreams – to attempt art mediums you have always wanted to try.
New craft classes will be offered to tempt you into trying something new.
New friends to make as you paint, sculpt, knit or crochet and laugh and

Nantucket Lightship Woven Purse-Advanced Weaving
September 8 - 9:00am to 1:00pm

Bring New England to Georgia by making your own Nantucket Lightship Woven Purse. In this four-session workshop, instructor Barbara Chatham will teach you how to make a Nantucket Lighthouse Woven Purse. Historical from Nantucket Island in Massachusetts, this is a lovely purse of heirloom quality. Skills are advanced and the effort is rewarded with a beautiful purse. History of this purse, examples, and materials will be taught. Students should bring a ruler, small sharp scissors, towel, a water mist bottle, clothespins and a small regular hammer. Holiday Weaving in the Mountains
September 14 - 9:00am to 2:00pm
Cost $36 (Class fee $18 plus $18 for basket materials kit)
Instructor: Barbara Chatham
Student weavers will make one Miniature Basket and one Blue Ridge Mountain Snowflake. In this class weavers will create two miniature pieces and learn basic weaves, placing a rim, a carved handle, and lashing. Basket size is 3"x2"x2" which is ideal for ornaments, a party favor, or to hold a holiday treat. Students should bring a pencil, ruler, clothespins, towel, a spray mist water bottle, small scissors, and a sandwich for lunch, water and snacks. Student weavers will make one Miniature Basket and one Georgia Snowflake. The miniature basket includes learning basic weaves, placing a rim, a carved handle, and lashing. Basket Size is 3"x2"x2" which is ideal for a tree ornament, a favor, or to hold any holiday treat. Making a Georgia Snowflake (size 6"x6") includes learning open weaving, curving reed and balancing weaves. It is an ideal gift from our peach state of Georgia, a decoration for home, or a tree decoration. Students should bring a pencil, ruler, clothespins, scissors, towel, a spray mist water bottle, and a sandwich for lunch, water and snacks.
