YOUTH ART MONTH….. was a huge success with hundreds of young artists and their families touring the exhibits and enjoying social time with their Art Teachers and Sharptop Arts Members who came in to check out Jasper’s emerging talent pool.
Robin Tondra dropped by and was so impressed with one middle school student’s work she made her an offer on the spot to purchase the piece, which was accepted. Kaylea Grace Bradberry, 6th grade, Pickens County Middle School, congratulations!
Walmart stepped up and provided Sharptop with 12 Gift Cards which enabled us to award additional prizes to students and send Thank You Gift Cards to the wonderful Art Teachers Pickens County is so fortunate to have. Special thanks to Ellen Minion for all her hard work in pulling the three shows together – Elementary, Middle, and High School – and to Carol Massey for her time and talented consideration of the High School work, serving as our judge and making Award selections.
This is breaking news - YOUTH ART CALENDAR. . . . More than any event we sponsor, Youth Art Month is a true and valued tradition at Sharptop Arts Association. To make sure Sharptop will be there for our kids, we are launching our first YOUTH ART MONTH CALENDAR that will feature award winning work from the 2014 show just completed. Funding for the calendar and Sharptop Arts Association will come from Sponsors who reserve a month on the calendar and are represented exclusively on the calendar for that 30-day period, similar to the St. Jude’s calendar.
If you would like more information or know of a local business that would like to take a Sponsorship position on the calendar, please contact Michal Brock at email firstname.lastname@example.org or 770-843-0726. This is a 13-month Academic calendar so only 13 Sponsorship positions are available. The calendar will include 2014-2015 school dates of importance. Participating Sponsors will receive 300 calendars they may sell to customers, donate, or use in any way they see fit to support Youth Art in Pickens County and our community Arts Center. More perks to announce at a future date, just wanted you to know your new Board is hard at work.
In 2011, Sharptop Arts Association transformed the land that our art center resides on, into a Visionary Garden. Each of the 22 Vistas was adopted by a member of the community. Visit the Visionary Garden tab to learn more.
The Sharptop Arts Association is a non-profit organization created to stimulate and encourage art appreciation and development of the arts and crafts. Through classes, workshops, exhibits and cultural events, the Association strives to provide a balanced program of art opportunities for all the people of Pickens County and the extended community.
