ARTS AND CRAFTS IN JASPER, GEORGIA

The Sharptop Arts Association is a non-profit organization created to stimulate and encourage art appreciation and development of the arts and crafts.  Through classes, workshops, exhibits and cultural events, the Association strives to provide a balanced program of art opportunities for all the people of Pickens County and the extended community.

The Association functions with an entirely volunteer effort. We are guided by a Board of Directors and an active network of committees focusing on different aspects of the Association. We are very excited about the future direction of the Association and hope you will join us in our enthusiasm and consider being a part of the process. We welcome your creativity and support and hope you will become an active member.

Art Classes • Workshops • Exhibits

Art Classes and Workshops are held at the Art Center in downtown Jasper, Georgia - including sculpture, pottery, painting, basket weaving, ceramics, photography and yoga, to name a few.  Click here for a map to the Art Center.

Exhibitions feature a variety of artists and media. Each exhibition has an opening night reception to meet the artists. Artwork is generally on display, with most items for sale, for an extended period of time.

Our Annual Children and Youth Art Show displays more than 400 pieces created by our Pickens County young people.

Sharptop Arts Association organizes and orchestrates the Fine Arts Exhibition held during the Annual Marble Festival each year in the fall.

Visit Our Library

The shelves in the kitchen have been cleared off to provide new space for BOOKS! All creative people have books in their collections that they no longer use and Sharptop has provided a space for your donation of such books. Art books of all types, craft books, photography books, books on creative writing — any type of book that relates to our mission statement to stimulate and encourage art appreciation and development of the arts and crafts. We will also feature paintings on the walls from our permanent collection, smaller shows and additional arts/craft items from the Member Gallery.

All donations are tax deductible and books will be available for check out. Donations of books may be brought to Sharptop Art Center any time Thursday – Saturday from 12:00 noon until 4:00pm.

Our Building is a National Treasure

Sharptop Arts is beginning the process to get their own home, the Tom Quinton House, listed on the National Register. The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) is the United States government's official list of places worthy of preservation. Its goals are to help identify and protect historic sites in the United States.

If you have any photos, scrapbooks, or newspaper clippings pertaining to the building, they would like to copy them. If you can provide anecdotal information or stories about the original building, let them interview you. If you can tell them any of these ways to validate or verify information about the building, contact Sharon Nardo 706-301-9132 or Mary Ann Clayton 706-692-2869.
